The story behind DishFare
Real food. Real people.
No bots.
DishFare was built by a real person, for real people who care about food — the kind of food that comes from a kitchen, not a computer.

Hi, I'm Mary.
I'm the founder of DishFare, and I built it because I genuinely love food — not the algorithmic version, not the AI-generated version, and definitely not the buried-under-twelve-ads version. The real thing.
I grew up on a small farm on the west coast of Ireland in Co. Mayo, where food was never an afterthought. We grew potatoes, carrots, parsnips, cabbage, turnips, rhubarb — the lot. My mother and grandmother baked their own breads and pies from scratch, and I learned to make soda bread and gooseberry pie before I was tall enough to see properly over the kitchen counter.
I spent almost sixteen years in London, where I fell in love with food all over again — this time through the cuisines of every corner of the world. Then I came home to Ireland.
I've been in Dingle for twenty years now, on the beautiful Dingle Peninsula in Kerry — one of Ireland's most celebrated food destinations, home to the annual Dingle Food Festival and the Blas na hÉireann awards. A fitting home for a platform built around authentic food.
I share Dingle with my rescue dog Lucy, a Jack Russell Chihuahua who has opinions about everything and absolutely no interest in keeping them to herself.
Why I built DishFare
For years I've been in awe of food bloggers. The skill, the creativity, the generosity of sharing their recipes with anyone who wants them — it's remarkable. But I watched something go wrong.
AI-generated recipes flooded the platforms people relied on. Real creators' content got buried under sponsored posts and irrelevant ads. Other people's hard work got stolen and reposted without credit. And the platforms that were supposed to help bloggers reach their audience started demanding more and more manual effort just to stay visible.
I'd had enough. And I had the skills to do something about it.
My background is in IT — over 40 years as a computer programmer, data and business analyst, and operations manager. So when I decided to build DishFare, I knew exactly what I was building: a platform that does the work for bloggers, not one that adds to it.
In a world where knowing what's actually in our food matters more than ever — where you'd need a chemistry degree to decode an ingredient list on a supermarket shelf — I wanted to go back to something simpler. Real recipes. Real ingredients. Real people.
What DishFare offers
For food bloggers
An invitation-only, ad-free platform to showcase your recipes — with no AI content, no bots, and no requirement to start over.
You're probably thinking: another platform I have to manually upload everything to? Not here.
DishFare has an automated ingest process that pulls every recipe from your existing blog — with images, ingredients, instructions, everything — and publishes it on DishFare without you lifting a finger. When you add new recipes or update existing ones, DishFare finds them automatically. You focus on creating. We handle the rest.
We will always welcome your feedback on how we can improve DishFare and serve you better. Signed-in food bloggers have access to a dedicated feedback tool directly from their dashboard.
For cooks
A clean, trustworthy place to find real recipes from real people. No ads. No AI-generated content designed to game search engines. No noise. Just food that someone actually made, tested, and cared enough to share.
Can you picture searching for a Grilled Chicken Wings recipe without wading through endless ads, AI-generated recipes that never quite work, or results that have nothing to do with what you searched for? On DishFare, every recipe comes from a real person who actually made it.
DishFare will always be free for home cooks — that's our promise. We will always welcome your feedback on how we can improve DishFare and serve you better.
And Lucy?
Lucy is a Jack Russell Chihuahua of extremely strong opinions, boundless energy, and deeply questionable taste in where she sits — Kruger's pub in Dunquin, the Blasket Centre, Captain Tom's boat. She's been everywhere.
She doesn't contribute to the codebase, but she's present for every decision and has never once complained about the direction of the platform.
She approved this page.

DishFare will never carry advertising. Not now, not when we have a million users. The moment we add display ads, we become the thing we're trying to replace.
Every recipe on DishFare comes from a real food blogger, invited to the platform because their content meets our quality standards. We verify this. We protect it.
If you love food — whether you create it or cook it — DishFare was built for you.
— Mary Ruddy, Founder, DishFare. Dingle, Co. Kerry, Ireland.
